dc.description.abstractThis paper explores the social and cultural contributions of urban tourism towards sustainable development in Nairobi City County, Kenya. The findings suggest that urban tourism has been instrumental in strengthening the city's cultural vibrancy, including Conservation and preservation of urban heritage, promoting diverse cultural activities, improved understanding among tourists and residents. Furthermore, it has contributed to the city's sustainable development by fostering a unified and socially cohesive environment. Additionally, it has enabled locals to express their values, beliefs, and identities, further helping to preserve traditional customs and practices, promote diverse cultural activities and good health and social wellbeing for all ages, improved understanding among tourists and residents. The paper concludes that urban tourism is a viable option for sustainable development in Nairobi City County, and can have a major impact on the economic, social, and cultural development of the city. Thus, the government should develop a comprehensive strategy to promote urban tourism in order to maximize its positive impacts.en_US
